What does it mean to be a member?

Do I need to be in a 12-step program to be a member?

No. B4R is open to all UCLA students who are interested in promoting a safe, sober, and fun campus environment. We are not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous or other 12-step groups, although we do hold student lead support groups for other students in recovery.

B4R is open to all students, including:
  • Students who attend 12 step groups
  • Students recovering from substance addiction
  • Students recovering from compulsive behaviors (eating disorders, gambling addictions, etc.)
  • Students who want to end the stigma and make a difference
  • Allies, friends, and family of individuals in recovery
There are various ways to be a member. You can participate in some or all of the following activities:
  • Special sober events
  • Daily support groups
  • Bi-Monthly business meetings
